To keep his experiment controlled, Reed has dedicated time and resources to ensuring that Roger and Dodger will not meet until he decides the time is right.

Together, they have the potential to become gods. Apart, they are powerful but containable. Created by the alchemist James Reed to embody the elusive Doctrine of Ethos, Roger is the living embodiment of Language, Dodger the living embodiment of Mathematics. They also aren’t precisely, entirely human. Roger and Dodger are best friends, gifted children, and twins, separated at birth and placed with adoptive families on opposite sides of the United States. Middlegame will be printed in two colors throughout, with a full-color dust jacket, an interior ornamental illustration, illustrated endsheets, an illustrated signature page, and yet another illustration that will be printed in the traycase to the lettered edition.

Note: There is a limit of one copy of each edition per person/household. Dust jacket and interior illustrations by Patrick Arrasmith
